Rigging Roots

Edgar's rigging odyssey began in 1989 when he embarked on training with Sparcraft as an onboard rigger for the Whitbread Round the World yacht race. He honed his skills as a rigger-fitter at the WA Yachting Foundation and subsequently spent a decade as a rigger and team leader with the esteemed Rolly Tasker rigging company. In 2005, Edgar set sail on his own rigging venture, establishing "Yacht Rigging Solutions."

A Lifetime of Sailing Excellence

Edgar's illustrious sailing career spans four decades, marked by remarkable achievements:

  • 10-year tenure with the USSR National team (1975-1985)
  • European champion in the 470 class
  • Bronze medalist in the Olympic sailboard class at the World Championship
  • Numerous national championships and medals across various yacht classes
  • Solo sailboard journey from Latvia to Sweden across the Baltic Sea
  • Whitbread Round the World race participant in 1990
  • Crewmember of the division D winner in the 2004 Sydney-Hobart yacht race
  • Multiple Australian champion in Etchells and Dragon classes
  • Several WA state championships
  • Successful completion of the Sydney-Hobart yacht race in 2006

Coaching Excellence

Edgar isn't just a seasoned sailor; he's the highest-qualified Sailing Coach. His coaching journey includes:

  • Possession of a university equivalent degree in Human Movement
  • Qualification as a Physical Education teacher
  • Two years of postgraduate study at a specialised coaching institution
  • Progress towards a Masters Degree in Human Movement
  • Diploma of Management
  • Leadership as a top coach for the Latvian and USSR national sailing teams
  • Coaching experience with RPYC, Flying Ant Association and numerous one-to-one projects
